Telehealth allows eligible patients to meet with a Helyx Health clinician through secure video while located in California. Depending on clinical fit and clinician availability, telehealth may be used for psychotherapy, psychiatric evaluation and medication management, behavioral sleep care, and selected parts of the neuropsychological process.
Video sessions can provide a consistent setting for individual or relationship-focused psychotherapy. The clinician's areas of expertise, methods, and population focus should guide the match rather than telehealth availability alone.
Psychiatric clinicians may provide evaluations, medication consultations, and follow-up care by telehealth when clinically appropriate. Prescribing is based on an individual assessment and applicable clinical and legal requirements. Telehealth does not guarantee that a medication will be prescribed.
Sleep-focused telehealth care may address insomnia, circadian rhythm concerns, and behavioral or psychological factors that affect sleep. Medical sleep evaluation and home sleep apnea testing may also involve remote appointments, depending on the clinical question.
Certain consultations or testing components may be available remotely. The neuropsychologist determines whether telehealth is appropriate based on the referral question, required measures, patient needs, and validity considerations.
Telehealth can be helpful for people who prefer to attend from home, want to avoid travel, or live farther from a clinician's primary office. It may not be the best option when the needed service requires in-person assessment, when technology or privacy prevents an effective session, or when a higher level of care is necessary.
The clinician may recommend in-person care, a different service, or another provider if telehealth cannot safely or effectively address the patient's needs.
Before the appointment:
At the beginning of a visit, the clinician may confirm the patient's identity, current physical location, and an emergency contact.
Helyx Health uses approved systems for telehealth and patient communication. Patients should use the secure links and portal instructions provided by the practice. No online system can eliminate every privacy or technical risk, but using a private setting, updated device, secure internet connection, and headphones can improve confidentiality.
The patient must be physically located in a state where the clinician is authorized to provide the service at the time of the appointment. Helyx Health primarily serves patients located in California. Travel or relocation may affect whether a scheduled telehealth visit can proceed, so patients should notify the practice in advance.
Telehealth through Helyx Health is not an emergency, crisis, inpatient, detoxification, or acute stabilization service. If you may harm yourself or someone else, call 911, call or text 988, or go to the nearest emergency department.
